Happy New Year! This is my first blog post of 2022, so I’ll try to make it good! 🙂 I took a long break from blogging and social media for the holidays to spend time with family and be present.
I wanted to start the new year sharing my favorites with you all! So first, I’ll start with skincare. If there’s one thing worth investing in, it’s your skin! You will always have it and it’s important to take care of it. I started really taking care of my skin in my mid 20’s, but I wish I would’ve started sooner. That is one thing my mom always told me, because she said she always wished she took care of her skin better in her younger years too. Of course I didn’t listen, but I wish I had, and I’ll try to convince my daughter to do the same. I definitely have my favorite skincare products, but I also love trying new products. I am always bouncing off ideas and suggestions from my mom, because she looks so good for her age, and also spends a lot of time researching and trying new skincare products. My mom is in her 50’s and she seriously looks sooo good! She visited over the holidays and I’m pretty sure I have more fine lines than her! I will splurge on skincare products if they’re worth it, but I also have found some products that aren’t as expensive and work just as good. Sometimes if I stop using a product, I’ll notice a difference and then I’ll go back to it, and that’s how I know it works for me. And one thing I always like to remind people is that different products work for different people and I never claim to be an expert, I just try products and share my favorites. Here are some of my favorite skincare products that I’ve used or am currently using and love!
I have sensative combination skin, that can be oily at times. I have occasional breakouts, 1 or 2 friends, every now and then, but it’s usually related to diet, stress, or a reaction to a product. I also have some uneveness on my face and malasma around my jawline.
Landcome Genifique Anti-Aging Serum
This is my ALL TIME favorite skincare product! If I had to use one of these products, it would be this one! It is pricey if you get the big bottle, but it lasts a long time. The dropper measures the amount you need and you can either use it once or twice a day. I am not patient when it comes to waiting for results and with this product, I noticed on day 4!
What I’ve noticed using this serum:Â My skin is more even, hydrated, and the texture of my skin has improved. It overall just makes my skin glow and look radiant! It’s also a great product to try in the winter, because you’ll notice your skin is less dry.
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Cleanser
I have used a lot of expensive cleansers, but this one is just as good, if not better! It gets off all of my makeup and also keeps your skin hydrated.
Neutrogene Hydro Boost Eye Gel
This is one of my favorite eye products. I really haven’t found a miracle eye cream like my good old Landcome Genifique Serum, but I’m always on the lookout. I feel like using an eye cream or gel is good as a preventative, but I never see real results. What I like about this gel is that is does keep my under eyes hydrated, which makes my makeup look better. I apply this only in the morning.
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Moisturizer
This may be the wrong, but I don’t use a moisturizer a lot. Between my Hydro Boost cleanser and Genifique serum, my skin stays pretty hyrdrated. When I do use a moisturizer, it’s this one. It’s just like the other Neutrogena Hydro Boost products and does what it says. It’s very lightweight and you don’t need a lot to give your skin a little moisture. It doesn’t make my skin greasy at all. If I do use this, I can’t feel it on my face, and that’s why I love this one!
I started using this eye cream when I was getting frustrated with my old one. I wanted one with retinol in it, but was tired of paying a lot of creams that didn’t do anything. I asked my mom what she was using, because like I said, she looks great for her age, and she uses this one, so I have been using it ever since. I like that it’s lightweight and super affordable. I don’t like to put a lot of creams or gel under my eyes, so I alternate between this and the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Eye Gel and apply in the morning.
Like I mentioned before, I’ve also tried a lot of night eye creams, and this one works just as well for me as the more expensive ones. It has retinol and it’s gentel on my skin. It also lasts a long time and I love that it’s fragrance free. Until I find a night cream that makes my fine lines disappear or significantly improve, I’ll be using this one. Botox is the only think that does that! 🙂 Yes, I do get Botox around my eyes and on my forehead as a preventative. Not ashamed to say that at all!
Tula Rose Glow Cooling Eye Balm
I was skeptical of this, because I’ve tried products that have been hyped up and overly advertised like this one, but I really do love it. This eye balm gives your under eye a glow and you definitely feel the cooling effect. I use it pretty much everyday under my makeup. If my skin is looking dull, I also apply on my nose and cheek bones as a highlighter. If I’m not wearing makeup, I do this often. It makes your skin look so pretty and healthy!
So, I’m going to be honest with you, I don’t actually have this brush. I have the TAO Facial Brush, which I do love, but my mom uses the PMD brush and she told me she notices better results with this one. I will be purchasing this one next, but I just have been using what I have for now. I also like how the PMD Facial Brush is silicone, so you don’t have to worry about replacement brushes.
So I did not like this suncreen the first time I tried it. I thought it made my skin breakout and made my skin look greasy, BUT I ran out of sunscreen one day and had to use it and gave it another shot. So my skin breaking out was a coincidence, because when I started using it again, that didn’t happen. The greasy skin effect that I experienced was because I used too much, so just keep that in mind. It does give your skin a pretty radiant glow and wears well under makeup.
Colleen Rothschild Vitamin C Treatment Complex
This is one of those products that I ran out of and didn’t get around to purchasing again and noticed a change in my skin. You’re supposed to use Vitamin C on your skin everyday especially for anti-aging purposes, and I love this one! I bought it after reading the reviews and seeing an influencer rave about it, so thought I’d give it a try. Before this one, I was using one that I got from Amazon, which was fine, but I noticed more results with the Colleen Rothschild. I apply this in the morning after applying my Landcome Genifique Serum.
I was also skeptical about this product, but it’s only around $8, so when I had a friend visiting me, I gave it a try. It’s really crazy how it works! Depending on the size of your pimple, it usually doesn’t take it away in one day, but it definitely shortens the lifespan. Haha! So, the crazy part is, is that it actually sucks the goop, or whatever you want to call it, out and when you take the patch off, you can see the white spot where the goop is. It sounds gross, and it is, but it’s also cool! When I applied it to a smaller pimple, that wasn’t even a big deal, it was gone with one appliaction. I would use them mainly at night, but they are skin colored, so if you have an embarassing pimple, you could wear it around. After this pandemic, who really cares anymore really! Some people are suffering from maskne, so do whatever your want! That’s what I say! 🙂
I have been using this mask for years and I’m a fan for life! If you don’t see results from this, you’re not using it correctly. So obviously you wash your face and apply. Then, once it’s dry is when you take it off. TAKING IT OFF IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART TO ACHIEVE THE BEST RESULTS. Okay, I’m not yelling, but I had to put that in caps so people know that. So when you take it off, with wet hands tap your face until you can use the mask as an exfoliator. Move your hands in a circular motion to exfoliate your skin. I seriously. When the mask starts getting dry again, repeat. I do this until I feel like I’ve really exfoliated a good amount. I go overboard and do it for probably 5-8 minutes and my face is red after, but it’s not red when I wake up and my skin looks and feels amazing! And I have sensative skin, so doing this does not irritate my skin at all. I’m telling you, it makes such a difference and your skin is glowing and more radiant for the next few days. I try to do this mask at least once a week.
Okay, this is my other favorite mask and I have been alternating these two for awhile now. This one is also a little pricey, but does last a long time, because you don’t need a lot. I’ve had mine for over a year. This mask is also good for resurfacing, acne, fine lines and wrinkles. It cleans your pores and improves dull skin. This also gives your skin a radiant glow after using it. They do give your skin an oil to apply after, but I’ve never used it only because of my eyelash extensions. You are only supposed to leave it on for 10 minutes, I think, and I have left it on for way longer and my skin burned a little, so just monitor that.
Peter Thomas Roth 24k Eye Patches
I received a sample of these eye patches and loved them! I felt like they really made a difference and made my eyes look more awake and improved the appearence, but I can’t really pinpoint what I noticed, if that makes sense. I just felt like it did something and maybe that was the “lift” that they’re supposed to do. I don’t know. They are pricey, but if you want to try a good eye patch, I recommend these. I also saw them use it on the Housewives of Beverly Hills, so they must do something. Those women know! I’ve used others that are pretty inexpensive and I don’t notice a difference, but I still do them. I don’t know, it’s just one of those things.
Side note: I don’t have time to proof read this now, so please don’t judge if I made mistakes. We have a snow day and I am dying to go play in the snow with my kids!
